This study aimed at the technical-economical evaluation of implanting some vegetal-oil extraction units in order to insert the family agriculture into bio-diesel production chain. Three project models (arrangements) for vegetal-oil extraction units at different sizes were proposed, using extraction by pressing and mixed extraction (extracting by either pressing or solvent) and different raw materials (castor-oil and soybean). For the size analysis, the oil production scales between 50/60 tons/day were used with real market data concerning investments, inputs prices of the process, raw materials and vegetal oil. For the economic analyses, the software BioSoft was used. The BioSoft is a program for supporting the decision-making process, which was developed... |

The Brazilian presence in international commerce, despite the regional leadership in Latin America and the global importance of Brazil as an emerging economy, is quite limited, reaching only 1% of the world’s total trade. Nevertheless, the agribusiness sector is responsible for half of the country’s export and Brazil is the world leader in sugar, coffee, orange juice, tobacco, soybean and beef export. Export growth is considered to be a key factor for the economic development of the country and many governmental programs are being carried out. The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Supply (MAPA), through its Cooperative Department (DENACOOP), has joined these efforts. The DENACOOP export consortia program is focused on building strategic alliance... |

The objective of this work is to identify the best location to install oil mills to process vegetable oil, obtained from castor, in the North Central Region in the State of Bahia, Brazil. Fifty five cities in that region have been identified as producers of this vegetable as so as their respective productivity and distance between them and the cities for the installation of the oil mills. Besides, the city of Candeias was elected to receive the produced oil, since there is a factory (PETROBRAS) that biodiesel castor oil. Aiming to encourage local small scale farming and processing of castor, produced at that region, two models of screw presses have been chosen, with capacities of 7.5 and 22.5 tons of castor’s oil per day to extract the oil. A mathematical... |
